This website is the beginning of a BIG project.
It’s to be a warehouse for all my songs, starting from my first foray into songwriting in 1988, when I learned to play guitar and became the “music lady” at my local nursery school.
Over those 30-plus years, my songwriting outpaced my ability to properly produce them (I had a home studio until 2012), and I now have an inventory of over 200 songs. This site is a place to park them – in their various states of production, from lyrics-only to fully produced and released.
On that day, the idea for this site was hatched. It was proposed, or rather urged, by one of my sons — now an adult
musician – who shares my predicament of too
many songs written and not enough time to
produce them. It will take time to populate
the site with the songs, which need to be
wrangled from several shelves full of 3-ring
binders, bins of cassette tapes, and files spread
over a historical trail of computers.
As my own two boys outgrew that genre, I couldn’t resist writing more songs for kids, and only slowed down when I rejoined the full-time working world in 2004. Now, in 2021, I’m still in the full-time working world, but from time to time I’ll write a new song if an interesting topic comes up (for example, hand-washing during the COVID pandemic!).
A lot of work lies ahead — but it will be a joyful project!
